The Effect of the Perceived Parental Attitude of Middle School Students and Parent-Child Communication Style on Internet Game Addiction

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among perceived parental attitude of middle school students, communication style and internet game addiction. In order to verify the purpose of this study, the tests about parent-child communication style, parental attitude and internet game addiction were carried out all 369 students from 1 to 3 grade of Middle school located in B metropolitan city and U metropolitan city. To examine the relationship between the main variables, correlation analysis carried out and multiple regression analysis was used to find out the influence between the variables influences. The results of this study are as follows. First, love and rational rearing attitudes among father`s caring attitude affected father`s communication statistically. In case of mother is love, achievement and rational rearing attitudes affected mother`s communication statistically significant influence on the static. Second, It is shown a factor of love in parental rearing attitude affected internet game addiction. Third, the relationship between opened communication style which is one of communication style and internet game addiction is shown direct and negative statistically. The results of this study indicated love of parents, achievement and rational rearing attitudes gave effects of positive, strong and meaningful. And rational rearing attitudes and communication style affected bad effects into internet game addiction in the light of relationship among perceived parental attitude of middle school students, communication style and internet game addiction. Therefore, it needs to consider and keep the factors of communication style and parental attitude for developing program about the internet game addiction and prevention and treatment of middle school students. In this study, it was examined family factors of parental attitude and communication style which gives affection on internet game addiction of middle school students. Suggestion for further studies, it needs to examine about personal factors and school environment. Also it has got to increase the validity of the results by using behavior observation or clinical interview in a follow-up study.
